DTN COMMENTS: Cash cattle country is rather quiet at midday, with asking 
prices noted around $214 to $215 in the South, and $340-plus in the 
North. Bids remain very hard to find. Significant trade volume will be 
delayed until later today and/or tomorrow. 

Beef cutouts are higher at midday (choice 333.35 +1.38, select 315.92 
+1.40) with light to moderate box movement (36.16 lds of choice cuts, 
9.67 lds of select cuts, 8.38 lds of trim, and 4.59 lds of ground). Live 
cattle futures at midday are mixed while feeder contracts are mostly 
modestly lower.

For the period of April 11 to April 17, the Export Sales Highlights 
report lists net beef sales of 10,300 MT for 2025 were down 41 percent 
from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average. 
Increases were primarily for South Korea (3,200 MT), Japan (1,900 MT), 
Hong Kong (1,300 MT), Canada (1,300 MT), and Taiwan (1,100 MT). Exports 
of 13,200 MT were down 10 percent from the previous week and from the 
prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to South Korea 
(4,900 MT), Japan (3,400 MT), Taiwan (1,200 MT), Mexico (1,000 MT), and 
Canada (900 MT).
